Riviera Maya NORD (zB Catalonia Playa Maroma)

LOS ARCOS
Medium to strong current
A flat reef at 22m drops down to the floor at 30m leaving a coral wall with dramatic formations and (as the name suggests ) 2 stunning arches to swim through. Lots of life along the wall, a good chance of seeing turtles, and look out for Bull Sharks, especially during the cooler winter months.

GREEN WALL
Medium to strong current
The Green Wall is a vertical reef from about 20m down to the floor at 30m. An excellent drift dive - follow the edge of the wall at 30m, then come up on top of the reef at around 20m. Look out for Morays, Turtles, as well as lots of life along the coral wall. A chance of seeing Bull Sharks during the cooler months.

CEREBROS
A shallow reef with amazing formations of Brain Coral (hence the name), rocky canyons and overhangs, very atmospheric and a bit different from most of the other local reefs. No current, so a great site for any level, also perfect for Navigation Specialty dives. Often the 2nd dive after Los Arcos or the Green Wall, as it's close by.

MOCHE DEEP
Medium to strong current
A short boat-ride north of Playa, Moc Che Deep is a vertical reef from about 20m down to the floor at 30m. An excellent drift dive - follow the edge of the wall at 30m, then come up on top of the reef at around 20m. Look out for Morays, Turtles, as well as lots of life along the coral wall. A chance of seeing Bull Sharks during the cooler months..

C 56 SHIP WRECK
The Wreck Name is C- 56 JUAN ESCUTIA, it is a 150 feet long war ship. Purchased from the US NAVY after the Second World War along with 5 others sister ships. It was sunken in front of Puerto Morelos Town in 1996 as part of an ARTIFICIAL REEF PROGRAM. This shipwreck is fully covered in coral and has a tremendous amount of sealife swimming around it. You will see beautiful amazing eagle rays, often in big schools, that usually are hanging in the current among other species like barracudas, big snapper and other that have made this wreck their home. The shipwreck is located at 100 feet, deep.

GENERAL HIGHLIGHTS
drop offs and walls, canyons, eagle rays, turtles and the occasional shark (nurse shark, blacktip, in the winter also bull shark), the c56 shipwreck is famous for schools of eagle ray encounters. generally diving from Maroma is beautiful, as there are very little other boats around.

CENOTE DOS OJOS
„Dos Ojos“ bedeutet „zwei Augen“ und ist nach den zwei kreisförmig, nebeneinander gelegenen Eingänge benannt. In dieser Cenote besuchen wir ebenfalls eine Fledermaushöhle. Interessant ist die Reihe von Höhlen unter dieser Fledermaushöhle. Hier findet man eine geniale Ansammlung verschiedener Stalagmiten und Stalagmiten. Um diese zerbrechliche Welt zu schützen ist es unbedingt erforderlich eine gute Austarierung zu haben. Maximale Tiefe ist 10 m.

CENOTE CHAC MOOL
Diese Cenote ist bekannt für das Licht das durch die verschiedenen Felsöffnungen in die Höhle eindringt. An sonnigen Tagen erlebt man gerade im Eingangsbereich lasershowartige Lichteffekte. Eine weitere Besonderheit ist der riesige Dom in dem man auftauchen kann und normal atmet. In Chac Mool könnt Ihr die „Halocline“, die faszinierenden Sichteffekte wo Salz und Süßwasser sich vermischen, beobachten. Mit seinen großen Räumen und flachem Gewässer (maximale Tiefe 12m) ist Chac Mool eine Cenote prädestiniert für Einsteiger im Höhletauchen.

TORTUGAS
Which means "Turtle". Situated between Playa del Carmen and Puerto Aventuras. It is one of the best and most popular dives in the Riviera Maya area. The main objective of diving this garden reef, is to see the large quantity of sea turtles ! It is also a drift dive, and besides the turtles you might sea different underwater life. During summer months, at the end of the dive you can see an enormous school of tarpoons.

MAMA VIÑA SHIP WRECK
A former shrimp boat sunk in Playa del Carmen caribbean waters in 1995. Only for experienced divers due to strong currents. Multilevel and deep dive. Can be explored the inside rooms. Home to corals and animals.

Maximum depth: 30m (100ft)
Average Visibility: 30m (100ft)

PAAMUL CARPET & PAAMUL WALL
The carpet starts at around 40 ft and slopes down slowly to the wall (90-130 feet). While the carpet usually only has a slight drift , convenient for easy diving, the wall is for skilled divers and currents can get quite strong. Beautiful coral landscapes with many big barrel sponges. Especially the wall offers an opportunity to see nurse sharks, lobster and moray eels. Be sure to keep an expectant eye out for pelagic fish, sharks and all types of turtles.
